...named after renowned poet, novelist and journalist FRANZ FASSBIND. He himself was a child prodigy, having released his first volume of poetry at age 15, his first novel at 19 years of age. Besides his immense literary gift he showed exceptional talents in music, studying composition and conducting professionally at the Musikhochschule in Zürich. Some of his compositions are widely performed by renowned performers. Illness at 18 years of age forced him to choose the lesser physically demanding of the two talents. During and after World War ll he became a famous intellectual figure and activist. As a journalist he had tremendous influence on the advancement of mass media, especially radio broadcasting. As a critique he was admired throughout Middle Europe. Music was, and still is his big love and at age 82 he is in command of an unsurpassed knowledge and interest, especially in 20th century music. A winner of many prestigious awards he lives with his wife of 60 years near Zurich, Switzerland. He has one daughter, Ursula Ingolfsson-Fassbind, Pianist and Music Pedagogue and Director and Founder of the " Leopold Mozart Academy". He has 4 grandchildren, 2 of them professional musicians, and two great grand children, all living in the United States.
